One of the unique aspects of my studio is that I have the ability to customize every newborn session that comes through the door. With a variety of props, backdrops, blankets, wraps and more the possibilities are truly endless. But every once in a while I get a request that makes my heart stop.
This little one was prayed for for so long. Jessica had wanted to be a mother for as long as I knew her but had sadly suffered many miscarraiges and losses. Five to be exact. When a newborn baby comes into the world after these types of losses they're referred to as a rainbow baby. Each child is special but for these parents who have been through the storm, their rainbows are always extra special. I try to honor both the rainbow and the babies who passed in every session.
For this rainbow newborn session I wanted to create the rainbow in five different colors to represent each of the babies that were lost before this little guy. I thought it was a sweet way to tie them together in the same way they're tied together in life, each a part of the others story. It ended up creating a beautiful, meaningful newborn portrait. One I'm sure his parents will treasure for a lifetime.
