Flip through your phone, the photos on your wall, or the ones saved on your computer and tell me what stands out to you.
If you're like most moms, you will notice there are tons of photos of your kids. Probably a good number of those include your spouse and your kids. But very few of them include the woman behind the lense, mom.
Most moms naturally step into the role of family photographer and story teller. We're happy to stand behind the photographs for a variety of reasons:
But the simple truth is that our children need us to be in the photos. We want them to look back and remember that we were there with them. We're letting them know, when memory fails, that we were apart of that moment. That we found value in being with them. But we're also showing them that we are valuable and deserve to be in photographs no matter our pant size, hair choices, or whether we're deep in the throes of motherhood.
