It's amazing how quickly children grow up. It's no wonder we, as parents, take so many pictures of them all the time. I have literally thousands of snaps on my phone. Because we have this need to capture the moments of childhood that are so fleeting. We want to bottle up their childhood and preserve it anyway we know how, and for most of us, that's through photography.
When they're younger and changing rapidly, annual portraits are a great way to document their growth and every changing faces. We want to see them when they were only knee high, then waist high and at some point they became even taller than we are.
Before you know it, our children are growing up and finding their own lives. They move away and start families. Take advantage of the time you have together now and preserve the memories of them at this moment. Because life is short and fleeting. As much as we hope that time will slow down, that things will stay the same, it won't keep it from moving forward. In the blink of an eye you will wonder where it went and the first thing you'll do is pull out the photo albums and begin to flip through.
